Tales from Teaching Practice week 1
Embracing Challenges and Growth
Embarking on the journey of teaching practice at VPS Malankara HSS Venganoor has been an enriching experience filled with challenges and moments of growth. As I stepped into Class 9 C, each day unfolded a new chapter in my exploration of pedagogy and classroom dynamics.
The initial day brought a mix of excitement and uncertainty. Assigned to Class 9 C, the first period was spent substituting in a Class 8 room amidst ongoing exams. The challenge of invigilating exams and impromptu chemistry lessons during the interval laid the groundwork for adaptability and quick thinking.
Day 2: Polynomials and Problem-Solving:
The second day delved into the intriguing world of polynomials. Implementing the Concept Attainment Model posed challenges, but through positive and negative exemplars, students grasped the essence of polynomials. Post-lunch, engaging in lesson plan writing sessions and aiding preparations added depth to the overall teaching experience.
Day 3: Refinement and Resilience:
The third day marked a positive shift in class dynamics. Conducting a problem-solving session on polynomials showcased students' increasing engagement and understanding. The day wasn't without its challenges, including managing a large group during the noon meal, emphasizing the importance of adaptability and teamwork.
Day 4 : Finding Balance
The fourth day of my teaching practice brought with it a profound sense of balancing the intricacies of lesson planning, student engagement, and my evolving role as an educator.
Day 5: Nurturing Growth Amidst Responsibilities
The day began with the familiar routine of prayers and attendance. Assigned Class 9 C during the 6th period, earlier hours were spent as a substitute in Class 8 D. After serving noon meals, the focus shifted to checking and correcting student notebooks. Line duty and a prompt departure at 3:30 PM concluded the day.
