Day 56 Day 56 involved managing an achievement test during the visit of an Assistant Professor in Physical Education. While some colleagues had their classes observed, I ensured a smooth test in 9C. Addressing student queries during the interval, I later corrected papers, participated in noon meal service, and had substitution duty. After line duty at 3:15 p.m., the day concluded at 3:30 p.m. Balancing tests, clarifying doubts, and fulfilling various responsibilities made it a dynamic day. Day 57 Day 57 of my teaching practice at VPS Malankara HSS Venganoor began with the school assembly, where we distributed prizes for a poster-making competition held as part of our school-based activity in commemoration of World AIDS Day on November 23, 2023. During the second period in class 9C, I distributed achievement test answer sheets and guided students in checking their answers. Our physical education teacher observed classes during the third period. With permission, we organized a sess...

Tales from Teaching Practice week 11

Day 51 Day 51 marked another significant day in my teaching practice at VPS Malankara HSS Venganoor. Starting the day at 8:30 a.m., my allotted period was during the third hour with 9C. The session focused on the concept of the volume of a cylinder, employing an inquiry-based training model. Encouraging students to analyze the described event, they initiated their own inquiry process. Using two packets of papad, I facilitated their understanding of cylinder volume by stacking them to form a cylinder. Through the inquiry process, the students grasped that the area of a cylinder base extends to the height, leading to the formula for volume. The session was highly satisfying. Noon involved serving lunch and substitution duty at 6E during the 5th period. Further engagement took place during the 7th period in 9B. At 3:15 p.m., after the national anthem, line duty awaited. Wrapping up the day's activities, I left the school premises by 3:30 p.m. It was a day filled with interactive lear...

Tales from Teaching Practice week 10

Day 46 Day 46 brought a break in the routine as the school observed an official holiday due to the festive celebrations of Pongal and Magarevilaku. Day 47 Day 47 of my teaching practice at VPS Malankara HSS Venganoor commenced with the teachers' prayer at 8:30 a.m. My allotted period was the second period in 9C provided an opportunity to introduce the concept of lateral surface area of a prism. We delved into cases involving a triangular prism and a rectangular prism. Students grasped that the lateral surface area is the product of the prism's base perimeter and height. While discussing generalizations, the bell rang, prompting me to postpone the problem-solving session for the next class. After noon, I participated in the noon meal serving and took on substitution duty at 8K during the 6th period. The day concluded with line duty at 3:15 p.m., following the national anthem. Leaving the school premises by 3:30 p.m., it was a day filled with exploring the practical aspects of ...

Day 41  On the forty-first day of my teaching practice at VPS Malangara HSS Venganoor, the journey continued with a problem-solving session on the "Absolute Value of a Number" during the third period with 9C. As the complexity of questions increased, students faced challenges in understanding and applying absolute value properties. I guided them through solving equations with multiple terms, fostering the construction of mathematical proofs and insightful discussions on the truth or falsity of inequalities. Post-class, I took on substitution duty at 7F, and after lunch, with permission from the headmistress for conducting a conscientization program addressing the "Influence of Social Media on Secondary School Students" for selected 8th-grade students. The day wrapped up with line duty at 3:15 p.m., following the national anthem. Leaving the school premises by 3:30 p.m., it was a day of overcoming challenges in the dynamic learning environment. Day 42 : An introduc...
