Tales from Teaching Practice week 12

 Day 56

Day 56 involved managing an achievement test during the visit of an Assistant Professor in Physical Education. While some colleagues had their classes observed, I ensured a smooth test in 9C. Addressing student queries during the interval, I later corrected papers, participated in noon meal service, and had substitution duty. After line duty at 3:15 p.m., the day concluded at 3:30 p.m. Balancing tests, clarifying doubts, and fulfilling various responsibilities made it a dynamic day.

Day 57

Day 57 of my teaching practice at VPS Malankara HSS Venganoor began with the school assembly, where we distributed prizes for a poster-making competition held as part of our school-based activity in commemoration of World AIDS Day on November 23, 2023.

During the second period in class 9C, I distributed achievement test answer sheets and guided students in checking their answers. Our physical education teacher observed classes during the third period. With permission, we organized a session on the ground with students from 8A and 8B, engaging them in recreational activities and traditional games like Kolamkara.

The larger group was organized in a single line based on increasing height, paired up, and then participated in various activities. I received valuable feedback from the students, and my physical education teacher provided corrections. After lunch together, the day concluded with substitution duty at 8A during the 6th period. At 3:15 p.m., after the national anthem, line duty awaited, and I left the school premises by 3:30 p.m. It was a delightful and enriching experience, combining academic and recreational aspects.

Day 58

Day 58 marked the culmination of my teaching practice at VPS Malangara HSS Bangalore, serving as my last day at the school. Arriving at 8:30 a.m., the day began with completing departure procedures, including obtaining signatures and seals, receiving feedback, and sealing attendance records.

During the second period, I visited my classroom, and the emotions were indescribable. Deeply pleased yet genuinely sad to leave my students, I shared words of advice for their future, expressing my gratitude for the teaching experience. The students, in turn, had written heartfelt feedback, and as a token of appreciation, I distributed sweets, witnessing their joy.

Post-class, teachers organized a heartfelt send-off lunch, adding another layer to the emotional experience. During the last interval, seeds were distributed, symbolizing good luck and a bright future for each teacher and staff member—a touching and memorable farewell.

And so, the tale ends here, leaving behind a mix of happiness and sadness, marking the conclusion of a valuable chapter.
