Day 28 of My Teaching Practice
22.07.2024 Monday
Today was the 28th day of my teaching practice. I reached the school at 8:45 a.m. The day was special as it was Pi Approximation Day.
Upon arriving, my mentor, Karthika Ma'am, asked me to help prepare for a seminar scheduled at 1:15 p.m. by the school's math club. We created circles of different radii for the students to measure the circumference and divide it by the diameter, helping them discover the constant Pi.
My allotted periods were during the 3rd and 6th periods. During the 3rd period, I conducted an achievement test on the chapter "Multiplication Identities."
At 1:15 p.m., I helped Karthika Ma'am with the Pi Approximation Day activities, assisting students in understanding the rational number Pi through practical exercises.
During the 6th period in class 9G, I taught the topic "Approximate Value of Irrational Numbers." It was an interactive session where students generated the decimal expansion of the irrational number √2. I also presented the approximate values of some irrational numbers like √2, √3, √5, √6, and √7. The students were engaged and eager to learn the approximate values of these irrational numbers.
At 3:15 p.m., after the bell rang and the national anthem was sung, I performed line duty. After signing the attendance register, I left the school premises by 3:45 p.m.
Day 29 of My Teaching Practice
23.07.2024 Tuesday
Today was the 29th day of my teaching practice. I reached the school at 8:45 a.m. I didn’t have any classes scheduled according to the timetable and didn't get any substitutions in my class. However, I went for substitution duty in 7A during the first period and in 9C during the third period. At noon, I helped serve the meal.
My mentor teacher asked me to give the students extra questions on the first two chapters I taught them. So, I started preparing chapter-wise worksheets for the students to solve.
At 3:15 p.m., after the bell rang and the national anthem was sung, I performed line duty. After signing the attendance register, I left the school premises by 3:45 p.m.
Day 30 of My Teaching Practice
24.07.2024 Wednesday
Today was the 30th day of my teaching practice. I reached the school at 8:45 a.m. We had a special assembly for the inauguration of various school clubs, the launch of a vertical farming initiative, and the reveal of the Arts and Film Cultural Club logo. A mathematician's dictionary was also published. The guest of honor was an environmentalist and Vanamitra Award winner.
As members of the Maths Club, we presented 3D objects that captivated both students and teachers.
During the second period, I conducted a problem-solving session on "Measures and Numbers." I showed a video illustrating that any odd number can be written as the difference of two perfect squares. The students were tasked with drawing circles of a specific area and calculating the side lengths of corresponding squares. Their curiosity and engagement were impressive.
In the fourth period, I covered for my mentor teacher and continued teaching. I also had substitution duties in 9C and 10E.
At the end of the day, I performed line duty before leaving the school premises by 3:45 p.m. It was a fulfilling day, reflecting the blend of academic and extracurricular activities that make teaching such a rewarding experience.
