Tales of Teaching Practice Phase 2 Week 4
Day 14 of My Teaching Practice
1.07.2024 Monday
Today was the 14th day of my teaching practice. I arrived at school at 8:45 a.m. My allotted periods were the second and sixth, but I only taught the second period because my supervising teacher needed the sixth period.
In the second period, I conducted an activity on "Lengths and Numbers" from the unit "New Numbers" to show that some numbers cannot be expressed as fractions. I used examples like the diagonal of a square and the height of an equilateral triangle to illustrate irrational numbers. Initially, the students were confused, but I explained the number system to help them understand. By the end, they grasped that not all numbers can be expressed as fractions and could apply the Pythagorean theorem to real-world contexts.
During the third period, I had substitution duty in 9F, and during the fourth period, I covered 9C. After lunch, went to supervise arabic poster making competition. then I had no more duties. In the evening, after the bell and national anthem, we performed line duty. We left the school at 3:45 p.m.
Overall, it was a successful and enlightening day.

Day 16 of My Teaching Practice
3.07.2024 Wednesday
Today was the 16th day of my teaching practice. I reached the school at 8:45 a.m. and met with my concern teacher, Karthika Ma'am, to sign the lesson plans. She advised me to start a new chapter, so I prepared for the topic "Multiplication Identities," focusing on the "Product of Sums."
During the second period, I had substitution duty in class 8C. In the third period, the general teacher observed our classes. My allotted class was during the 4th period, where I taught the new topic. I used rectangles to visually demonstrate the distributive property of multiplication over addition and derived it algebraically. I divided the students into six groups, guided the activity, and had them present their results on the board. This helped them understand the principle, and they successfully solved two problems I provided.
Afterward, I went for noon meal serving duty. During the 6th period, I had substitution duty in class 9A, and during the 7th period, I covered class 8D. At 3:15 p.m., the bell rang, and after the national anthem and line duty, I signed the attendance register and left the school by 3:45 p.m.
Overall, it was a productive and interactive day of teaching.
